A bit of history
I always adored programming languages; for me, they were these huge projects that combined PLT, compilers and real thought of how programmers should write code.
My love for these types of problems began in the 4th week of my 5th semester at university,
where Dr. Haythem was explaining to us
his wonderful course Theory of computation and showed us for the first time what a DFA is
(I won’t tell you 😜, you need to search yourself).
I found myself totally invested in this topic. So much that the first thing I did when I got home was to boot up eclipse (yes, java) and start writing a small DFA tracer, and I couldn’t contain my excitement when I got it working.
From then on his courses were my favourite in the university, and I knew these theoretical topics lit a spark in me. And whenever I found a resource talking about PLT or compilers, I found myself so invested in it that I knew I had my next project in mind.
Why a programming language
There are multiple projects that I could do and still be linked to PLT or compilers. But, having been writing code for about 3 years now I started to find some issues in each programming language I used and I thought I should try it as a nice side project.
Am I ready?
Definitely not and this is the beauty of it, I am taking on a big challenge in a topic I love.
Why start the devlog now
I started this blog in March 2026 and since then abandoned it a bit, but after starting Fanak in early August & some nagging from my friend Fahd, I decided to start it again. And record the journey of my project.
